Contact the Post Office to Change Your Address
It's important to contact the post office to change your address. If you fail to do this, your mail will continue to show up at your old location indefinitely. Submitting a handy and quick “change of address” form with the post office can keep your mail situation in check. It can stop mail delivery delays from taking place, too.
Donate Food Items in Your Refrigerator and Pantry
Bringing food items that are perishable to your brand new address may be unrealistic. It can be particularly unrealistic for people who are part of long-haul relocation jobs. If you want to clear out your refrigerator and kitchen cabinets before relocating, you should make a point to donate food to local organizations. You should throw out any foods that are past their expiration dates, too. People sometimes keep food products in their refrigerators long after they've gone bad.
Say Goodbye to People You Know
You may have good friends in your neighborhood. You may have some friendly acquaintances as well. If you do, you should take a couple of hours to give them all proper “goodbyes.” Exchange contact information so you can stay in touch. You may want to head to your neighbor's house to give her your new postal address. You may want to say farewell to the kind lady who works at the laundromat down the street, too. Tell her that your earlier “sell my house” plan actually worked.
Clean Your Home
It can be strange to look at a home that's completely empty. You should give your newly empty residence a basic cleaning once your boxes and furniture items are all gone and on their way to their next destination. Mop the floors. Clean the windows until they shine. Wipe down the surfaces of the countertops in your kitchen. Do a little bit of dusting as well.
Moving to a new town can be a chaotic experience. If you're organized, however, you should be able to keep track of any and all of the things you have to do. Moving is a task that requires a lot of patience.
